stupid BT.
and the BT home hub was made by a blind two year old. piece of junk.
rant over now, thanks )

It was nothing to do with the home hub. Many of us use belkin or netgear and still had the problem

I've been able to reconnect to guildwars.com and everything is working fine on the i-net side of things, but it seems I'm having a lot of packet loss on my connection in game. I can skip from 47ms ping to 2,300ms.
How many people are playing on a wireless network?

I gave up on wireless a while ago. Despite fantastical claims by wireless vendors, if you can connect with cat5, then do.
Wireless is rubbish except for perfect conditions.

I've just tried on a physical connection and while i didn't get 'current' ping rates as low as on my wireless, the over all average was a lot better and constant rather than big ping/lag spikes.
Guess I'll have to run a cable from my room to downstairs where the router is...

It's not a wireless router issue - it is either something wrong with BT. If it was something wrong with your router then a) It would fail all the time (mine works maybe once in every 10 - 20 attempts) and b) Other similar services wouldn't work either (my Xbox Live gaming is fine). My own tracerts tend to time out at LINX - the big peering centre in London where data is exchanged between ISPs. I'm not technical enough to suggest what the problem is (although a significant proportion of BT's dynamic IP pool is on spam blacklists), but as the problem occurs before the data reaches NCSoft's server network I think we can rule out NCSoft as the culprit.
One thing I can add to the pool of knowledge though is that it isn't an issue with BT's DNS servers. I set up my router to use OpenDNS earlier today (well, since it's now a minute past midnight technically yesterday) and it didn't make any difference.
